The waterworks was operated by military personnel

Before its name was changed to Karl-Marx-Straße (1945 - 1994), today's Parkstraße was called Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße for a long time (1890 - 1945). From the establishment of this neighbourhood in 1890, military families civilians and business people settled there. This street was the main route into Jüterbog II and led to the main sentry and firing ground.

A separate waterworks, Wasserwerk (1), was built here as early as 1900. The waterworks was operated entirely by military personnel. The water was conveyed by a steam engine. Next to the waterworks there was a military steam bathing-house and a garrison laundry which cleaned the soldiers' uniforms, bed linen etc. The laundry is now the seat of the Joint Water and Sewage Association of Jüterbog-Fläming.
