Just 50 pfennigs to Berlin

From the mid-19th century, Jüterboger train station (7) is where all those travelling to Jüterbog arrived. The Berlin-Anhalter-Bahn train line connected Berlin and Dessau/Köthen and was opened on 1 July 1841 after three years of construction. Other lines followed, for example the Jüterbog-Zossen-Berlin military line (1897).

A separate Soviet military train station was built in 1956. The "Grüne Express" (green express), the holiday train of the Soviet military personnel, started here and travelled to Moscow via Berlin-Karlshorst and Brest. All lines started at Jüterbog station, thus it has always been the gate to Jüterbog and its district of Jüterbog II. As early as 1910, military personnel could take the train from Jüterbog to Berlin Anhalter Bahnhof station, arriving there within 50 minutes for a fare of just 50 pfennigs.
