The Museum Neuruppin

Part of the exhibition in the Museum Neuruppin (5) is dedicated to the history of the open land settlement. It presents information about the Gildenhall artists and their work and all aspects of life in the settlement. The exhibition includes work by the weaver Else Mögelin, who, like the painter and wood turner Eberhard Schrammen (1886 - 1947), came to Gildenhall having completed her studies at the Bauhaus. Ceramic works by Richard Mutz (1872 - 1931), who originated from a famous family of ceramicists in Hamburg, can also be viewed there. Mutz worked in Berlin and Velten for Ernst Barlach and others and was attracted to Gildenhall by the Berlin architectural ceramicist Hans Lehman-Borges (1879 - 1945). Mutz produced ceramic decorations for the Berlin underground station Fehrbelliner Platz and for the Schurig House in Hamburg. He also contributed to the restoration of the famous Ischtar Gate in Berlin's Museum of the Ancient Near East.
