The Neuruppin's Gildenhall settlement

Leaving the centre of Neuruppin, heading eastwards across the railway bridge over Lake Ruppin, you arrive at the district of Gildenhall which is located on the opposite shore of the lake. The name Gildenhall already provides an indication of the area's links with the craft unions known as guilds which have existed since medieval times. Since 1921, however, the name has been associated with a Freiland (open land) settlement combining modern architecture with a new reformed way of life and working ideals.
