Im malerischen Nuthepark

In the picturesque Nuthepark (4) we read about Maria Nicklisch, a woman from Luckenwalde who was a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. She was born in 1904. After acting lessons with Maria Moissi and Leontine Sagan, Maria Nickisch embarked on her acting career at the Munich State Theatre in 1934. One year later she tread the boards in the world-famous Munich Kammerspiele where she worked with the director Erich Engel before he went to Berlin. Apart from a few of guest roles she remained loyal to this theatre for six decades and passed away in the Bavarian capital at the age of 91.
The Kunsthalle VIERSEITHOF gallery (5) which has regular exhibitions is located opposite the Nuthepark. The MARKER located here lists the names of Luckenwalde companies which excel through their involvement in social issues. Can anyone imagine a beer mat without an advertisement? This idea was patented by Hermann Henschel who was born in Luckenwalde in 1843. He opened a jewellery shop in the city in 1867. He also continued with his designs and inventions, and not only designed hygienic food packaging, but also invented the first paper plate, an essential component of any barbecue today. The paper factory which he managed from 1928 is located at the Bahnhofstraße/Poststraße intersection. He spent his retirement in Berlin.
