Die heutige Alte Forstakademie

The newly established "Advanced School of Forestry" moved into today's "Old Forest Academy" (1) in 1830. The Prussian state had acquired buildings and land at the Schwärze stream at a price of 8,500 thalers for the purpose. It was the property of the descendants of Berlin factory owner and banker David Schickler who had commissioned the building there in 1795. Around 1830, the ground floor contained a lecture hall, assembly room, two offices and a records room. Pfeil, the director, lived on the upper floor which was demolished in 1913. The library was also located on the first floor. Friedrich Wilhelm Leopold Pfeil is shown in the medallion on the right. The building is still used as a lecture and seminar venue by the University of Applied Sciences.
