"We are Loriot -
a Prussian lightens up the Germans"

Bernhard-Victor von Bülow, who is known as Loriot, spent his childhood in Magdeburger Straße (11) in the Kasernenviertel neighbourhood, from where you can take a tram to the Industriemuseum. The man who is famous for his black humour was born in Brandenburg an der Havel on 12 November 1923. Before he took off to conquer the world he went to school in Berlin. In 1993, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Brandenburg. In January of that year he had bestowed a lasting gift on the people of Brandenburg in the form of his Vicco-von-Bülow Foundation which promotes cultural and charitable causes in the city. However, the greatest gift of all, the ability to laugh at oneself, is one he bestowed on everyone.
